About Fahm
Fahm teaches Modern Standard Arabic from the script up: 1670 vocabulary words with spaced review, 144 lessons, 30 verbs to conjugate, 35 graded stories, a Quranic Arabic track and 81 free guides.
What the word lists rest on
Most of the vocabulary decks name their references in their own metadata: Arabic frequency lists and the Hans Wehr Dictionary, with the Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya textbook added on the core and numbers decks and the Lonely Planet Arabic Phrasebook on the travel phrases. The Quranic vocabulary deck, the grammar lessons, the stories and the guides are the site's own and name no outside source.
Who is behind it
Fahm is one independent developer's project, with no university, madrasa or publishing house behind it. The same developer runs BolNama for Urdu, Hafiza for Turkish, HijriConv for Hijri dates and Nubala, a site of historical figures.
Lessons and guides are credited to Fahm, never to an individual byline, and the markup on each page attributes it to the Fahm organization. No teacher is named, and no ijaza or scholarly credential is claimed.
A language app, not a scholar
Fahm teaches the language: the script, the root system, verb patterns, case endings and the words that recur in the Qur'an. It is not tafsir and it issues no religious rulings. A Quranic word is glossed as vocabulary; questions of interpretation or practice belong with a qualified scholar.
Where your progress lives
Everything runs in your browser. Progress, review scheduling and settings sit in this browser's own storage and are never uploaded; there is no account to make. The cost of that is permanent: wipe your browser data and your review history goes with it, and nobody can restore it for you, because nobody else ever had it - the support page explains how to export a backup first, and the privacy notice has the detail.
