Grammar
Form VIII verb (اِفْتَعَلَ). Noun: اِبْتِلَاءٌ (trial/test). Related: بَلَاءٌ (affliction/test). Different from فَتَنَ — ابتلى emphasizes purposeful divine testing.
Culture
Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son is the supreme example of passing divine tests — commemorated annually during Eid al-Aḍḥā.
