liyatafaqqahū fī ad-dīni wa-liyundhirū qawmahum idhā rajaʿū ilayhim
To obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them (9:122)

Masculine noun (maṣdar). Verb: فَقِهَ (to understand deeply). Form V: تَفَقَّهَ (to study/seek deep understanding). فَقِيهٌ (jurist/scholar of fiqh).
Culture
Fiqh originally meant deep understanding of religion. It later became the technical term for Islamic jurisprudence — the science of deriving practical rulings from the Quran and Sunnah.
