Grammar

Masculine noun (maṣdar). Verb: حَسَدَ (to envy). Active participle: حَاسِدٌ (envier). Distinguished from غِبْطَةٌ (admiration without wishing removal of the blessing).

Culture

Surah al-Falaq seeks protection from envy. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Envy eats good deeds as fire eats wood.' It is considered a destructive spiritual disease.
