أَطَاعَ
aṭāʿa
he obeyed

وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا
wa-man yuṭiʿi Allāha wa-rasūlahū faqad fāza fawzan ʿaẓīmā
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great triumph (33:71)
أَنْفَقَ
anfaqa
he spent (in charity) / he gave

الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً
alladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahum bil-layli wan-nahāri sirran wa-ʿalāniyah
Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and publicly (2:274)
حَكَمَ
ḥakama
he judged / he ruled

وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ تَحْكُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِ
wa-idḥā ḥakamtum bayna an-nāsi an taḥkumū bil-ʿadl
And when you judge between people, to judge with justice (4:58)
بَصُرَ

فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِ عَنْ جُنُبٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
fa-baṣurat bihī ʿan junubin wa-hum lā yashʿurūn
And she watched him from a distance while they perceived not (28:11)

yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū kutiba ʿalaykumu aṣ-ṣiyāmu kamā kutiba ʿalā alladhīna min qablikum
O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you (2:183)
حَجٌّ
ḥajj
pilgrimage (to Makkah)

وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
wa-lillāhi ʿalā an-nāsi ḥijju al-bayti mani istaṭāʿa ilayhi sabīlā
And it is a duty upon mankind to God to make pilgrimage to the House for whoever is able to find a way (3:97)
جِهَادٌ
jihād
struggle / striving (in God's cause)

وَجَاهِدُوا فِي اللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ
wa-jāhidū fī Allāhi ḥaqqa jihādih
And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him (22:78)

شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ وَأُولُو الْعِلْمِ
shahida Allāhu annahū lā ilāha illā huwa wal-malāʾikatu wa-ulū al-ʿilm
Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and so do the angels and those of knowledge (3:18)
إِحْسَانٌ
iḥsān
excellence / doing beautiful deeds

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ
inna Allāha yaʾmuru bil-ʿadli wal-iḥsān
Indeed, Allah commands justice and iḥsān (excellence) (16:90)

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ
yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū kūnū qawwāmīna bil-qisṭ
O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice (4:135)
