ظِلٌّ

ẓill

shade / shadow

B1nounroot: ظ-ل-ل

وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيلًا

wa-nudkhiluhum ẓillan ẓalīlā

And We will admit them to a dense shade (4:57)

مُحْسِنٌ

muḥsin

doer of good / one who acts with excellence

A2nounroot: ح-س-ن

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

inna Allāha yuḥibbu al-muḥsinīn

Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good (2:195)

كَلَامُ اللَّهِ

وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلَامَ اللَّهِ

wa-in aḥadun mina al-mushrikīna istajāraka fa-ajirhu ḥattā yasmaʿa kalāma Allāh

And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection until he hears the words of Allah (9:6)

عَاقِلٌ

ʿāqil

rational person / one who reasons

إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

inna fī dhālika laʾāyātin li-qawmin yaʿqilūn

Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason (13:4)

مِحْرَابٌ

miḥrāb

كُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا زَكَرِيَّا الْمِحْرَابَ وَجَدَ عِنْدَهَا رِزْقًا

kullamā dakhala ʿalayhā Zakariyyā al-miḥrāba wajada ʿindahā rizqā

Every time Zakariyya entered upon her in the prayer chamber, he found provision with her (3:37)

مِنْبَرٌ

minbar

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ مَنَعَ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ

wa-man aẓlamu mimman manaʿa masājida Allāhi an yudhkara fīhā ismuh

And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques? (2:114)

مَسْجِدٌ

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى

subḥāna alladhī asrā biʿabdihī laylan mina al-masjidi al-ḥarāmi ilā al-masjidi al-aqṣā

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque (17:1)

عِبْرَةٌ

ʿibrah

lesson / moral / admonition

لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ

laqad kāna fī qaṣaṣihim ʿibratun li-ulī al-albāb

There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding (12:111)

غُفْرَانٌ

ghufrān

forgiveness / pardon

غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

ghufrānaka rabbanā wa-ilayka al-maṣīr

We seek Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the destination (2:285)

malakūt

dominion / sovereignty / kingdom (celestial)

أَوَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

awalam yanẓurū fī malakūti as-samāwāti wal-arḍ

Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth? (7:185)

تَقْوِيمٌ

taqwīm

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ

laqad khalaqnā al-insāna fī aḥsani taqwīm

We have certainly created man in the best of stature (95:4)

عُرْوَةٌ

ʿurwah

handhold / firm grip / bond

فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى

faman yakfur biṭ-ṭāghūti wa-yuʾmin billāhi faqadi istamsaka bil-ʿurwati al-wuthqā

Whoever rejects false deities and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold (2:256)
